humor across gender lines
After listening to a couple of co-workers babble back and forth, each one trying to get the other's goat, I found what I thought to be an interesting question.
Due to the fact that someone had mentioned that the other was "gay", that person assumed a limp wristed stance and started speaking with a lisp. What I can only state as stereotypical "flaming gay" behavior. Homophobia and personal issues non-withstanding, this person was personifying what was America's understanding of a gay man.
Now my question is this: Do gay men do the reverse when bullshitting with their buddies? Do they act overly masculine/hetero? "Hey Bob, check out the ass on that chick" in a caricature of a baritone voice (limp wrist/lisp non-existent), then laughing giddily at how hetero they seem?
I would like to think that that is the case, cause then, it's even funnier for me.
