Why I hate this town
TRAFFIC.
TRAFFIC.
TRAFFIC. Maybe I'm just naive, but one would assume that a city as big and metropolitan as Atlanta would have the foresight to build the proper roads to accommodate the millions of people commuting back and forth to work. But this is not the case.
It could be my inexperience with "big" city living, but this is the only town that I know of that has regular traffic delays simply because the sun is shining. Traffic sucks if it rains. Apparently people think that they can drive exactly as if the road conditions were perfect. Allow yourself an extra hour-hour 1/2 anytime you plan on driving in the rain. But once the sun comes up to dry off the highways and byways you'd think all would be good. This is not the case. Apparently, the sun is very bright and people in Atlanta are transfixed by the mere sight of it, thus forgetting that they are in traffic and normal road safety is necessary. I live approximately 37 miles from where I work. Trying to maintain an average speed of 70 MPH on the drive in to work, I have yet to make it door to door in 37 minutes.
Somehow I have a feeling that this topic will be recurring.
